Friday, 17th July 2009

In US news, The Breeders' Cup has announced "a multi-year agreement renewing TVG as an official media partner of the Breeders' Cup World Championships," according to bloodhorse.com. The agreement will include broadcaster TVG becoming "title sponsor" of the US$2 million Gr1 Breeders' Cup Mile - run on turf. This year's Breeders' Cup World Championships (26th in the series) comprises 14 races with US$25.5 million in purses. It will be staged over 2 days (Nov 6&7) at Santa Anita Park in California. In announcing the new agreement, Breeders' Cup president & CEO Greg Avioli commented, "TVG has been an outstanding partner of the Breeders' Cup for the past 10 years and a leader in televised racing and account wagering... As we indicated in announcing our strategic review last week, long-term alliances like our relationship with TVG, are a key component of our plan moving forward. TVG will continue to help us grow the Breeders' Cup in the U.S. and overseas in the coming years."
