High Priced Filly Breaks Maiden

Friday, 17th July 2009

High priced 3YO filly Boca Chita (Elusive Quality-Quays, by Marauding) broke her maiden in the Night Of Champions 3YO Maiden Handicap (1100m) at Canterbury. Boca Chita (ridden by Kerrin McEvoy for trainer Gai Waterhouse) defeated 3YO geldings Keine Lust (Lucky Owners-Nancy Eleanor, by Blevic) - a half-brother to Gr1 STC Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready - & Confessional (Red Ransom-Sontweni, by Sadlers Wells). Boca Chita (consigned by Tyreel Stud & purchased by Darley for $1.3 million as a yearling at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) was the solid favourite. Her multiple Gr1-placed Gr2-winning dam Quays is a daughter of Gr1 AJC Flight Stakes winner Pontal Lass.
