I Am Invincible Wins Sir John Monash Stakes

Former European Champion 1st Season Sire & Chatswood Stud shuttler Invincible Spirit (Green Desert-Rafha, by Kris) added a black-type success when 4YO entire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit-Cannarelle, by Canny Lad) returned from a 10 week spell to capture the $100,000 Listed Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield in Melbourne. I Am Invincible (ridden by Darren Gauci for trainer Peter Morgan) defeated favoured 4YO gelding Gran Sasso (Scenic-Scarlet Bird, by Rubiton) & 6YO gelding Orange County (Volksraad-Saffie, by Kaapstad). I Am Invicible (a $62,500 yearling at the 2006 Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney) took his record to 5 wins (also including April's Gr3 evright.com Stakes over 1100m at Morphettville) & 2 placings (including runner-up to Takeover Target in May's Gr1 The Goodwood over 1200m at Morphettville) from 11 starts for $263,550 earnings. Connections announced last month that, all going well, I Am Invincible could be targeted at an overseas campaign.
