Noel Callow Cleared Of Drug Charges

Tuesday, 21st July 2009

Australian jockey Noel Callow was yesterday cleared of drugs charges in Malaysia following a 5-week investigation, reported Sydney's Daily Telegraph. Callow, who will return to race riding in Melbourne on August 1, said last night "I knew I was innocent, but because you're in another country it can be fairly daunting. But I'm happy with the result,". Callow has been unable to ride since last month, after his urine sample returned traces of ephedrine and phentermine (appetite suppressants). Callow, who took time out this year, had been riding in Singapore for 2 years after a 9 month stint in Macau, & became the first jockey to ride 100 winners in a season in Singapore.
