Fasig-Tipton 2: US$425,000 Medaglia D'oro Filly

Wednesday, 22nd July 2009

On Day-2 of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July sale, John Ferguson (acting on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed) went to US$425,000 to acquire Lot 250, a Medaglia D'oro filly out of Argentine Gr2 winner Ting A Folie. According thoroughbredtimes.com, the yearling "is a half sister to Bastakiya, a stakes-placed filly that was owned by Sheikh Mohammed's wife Princess Haya of Jordan." After the sale Ferguson commented, "We owned the sister who was a very talented 2YO who unfortunately injured herself, so we know the mare can breed a good one. I think it's quite well known that we have a strong opinion of Medaglia d'Oro, just like everybody else. And this was a quality filly." No decision has been made yet on whether the filly will be raced in the US or Europe.
