George Washington Filly To Sell At Tattersalls October

Thursday, 23rd July 2009

The only yearling in the world by ill-fated Gr1-winning former Coolmore stallion George Washington (Danehill-Bordighera, by Alysheba) will be offered at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale (Oct 6-Oct 8). The bay filly (out of Rainbow Quest mare Flawlessly) was the highest priced foal sold in Ireland last year when Gildawn Stud paid the top price of €280,000 (A$532,000). She is half-sister to French Gr3 winner Ombre Legere & Grade 1 placed Flawly. Commenting on the filly, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said: "She is an outstanding physical specimen and of course she is unique. It is wonderfully appropriate that she will be sold at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale as her father George Washington was the 1,150,000 guineas sale topper at the first October Book 1 in 2004 and we also have George Washington three parts brother by Danehill Dancer in the sale."
