Godolphin Buys Stakes-Winner Atomic Rain

Gr1-performed 3YO colt Atomic Rain (Smart Strike-Paradise Pond, by Cox's Ridge), winner of the Listed Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park in the US, has "been purchased privately by Godolphin to be sent racing in Dubai", reports racingpost.com. Runner-up in the Gr2 Remsen Stakes & 4th in the Gr1 Wood Memorial Stakes, the Kelly Breen-trained colt has amassed US$248,540 (A$304,820) prize-money to date. Atomic Rain was originally a US$170,000 yearling at the 2007 Keeneland September yearling sale. Godolphin's racing manager Simon Crisford said, "We have purchased Atomic Rain to race in Dubai this winter but we will make a decision shortly with regard to his more immediate future."
