New Whip Rules In Force On August 1
On August 1 strict new guidelines for whip use will be enforced & Sydney's jockeys will be forced to limit the use of the whip or face heavy penalties, according to Sydney's Daily Telegraph. The new rules, which will be implemented Australia wide, outline that jockeys must use padded whips, not bring the whip above shoulder height and restrict the amount of times they can hit a horse both before and once inside the final 200m. Jockey's have been refining their styles in an attempt to make sure they comply with the new rules.
