High Chaparral Adds UK Black-Type

Monday, 27th July 2009

Also in the UK, NZ Windsor Park's Derby-winning Coolmore shuttler & 6-time Gr1 victor High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells-Kasora, by Darshaan) added a black-type success when UK-bred 3YO filly High Heeled (High Chaparral-Unchartered Haven, by Turtle Island) scored by 2.25-lengths in the £40,000 (A$80,360) Listed EBF Lyric Stakes (10.5 furlongs on turf) for 3YO & up fillies & mares at York. High Heeled (ridden by Michael Hills for trainer Barry Hills) defeated 3YO filly Ave (Danehill Dancer-Anna Amalia, by In The Wings) & 5YO mare Sweet Lilly (Tobougg-Maristax, by Reprimand). High Heeled was a €110,000 (A$187,000) yearling at the 2007 Goffs Millions Sale; she took her overall record to 3 wins & 3 placings (including both this season's Gr1 English Oaks over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs in June & then last start's Gr2 Lancashire Oaks over 12 furlongs at Haydock earlier this month) from 9 starts for £91,161 (A$185,000) earnings.
