ARB Supports NSW Industry Funding Meeting

Tuesday, 28th July 2009

Australian Racing Board chairman Bob Bentley released a statement declaring: "A meeting of industry participants will take place in Sydney on Friday. The ARB understands the purpose is to exchange information on the challenges facing the industry & in particular the future funding model. While this is not an industry sanctioned event, the ARB appreciates the support of industry participants & will be interested in the outcomes. NSW Racing faces challenges to both the legitimacy of the race fields legislation & the method & rate of the charge. The ARB recognises these are crucial matters for the future funding of the industry, however the outcome of these challenges may not be known for some time. At its meeting in June, the ARB determined to approach the Federal Government to seek their support for a national approach to secure the industry's future. This approach, involving all principal racing authorities in Australia, is a crucial element of the ARB'S strategy. All the members of the ARB are committed to securing the future funding of this important industry through the leadership of the ARB."
