Hines Says Racing Commissioner Will Help Deal With Criminals

Racing Victoria chief executive Rob Hines told The Herald-Sun a racing commissioner "will strengthen" the industry's "ability to deal with its criminal element". A racing integrity commissioner was a key recommendation of last year's Victorian Government-commissioned report into the sport's integrity by Judge Gordon Lewis & Hines said it would bridge the gap between racing & police & "allow us to better deal with criminals that exist in horse racing". And Victorian Racing Minister Rob Hulls said the commissioner "who is expected to be appointed within months," would "ensure more comprehensive, independent & consistent integrity assurance systems".
