Rogerson Seeks Change To Training Partnership Rule

Wednesday, 29th July 2009

Graeme Rogerson's "hopes of starting a training partnership with Roger Elliott at Randwick for the new season have stalled because of an Australian Racing Board ruling," reported The Daily Telegraph. Rogerson last week entered into a training partnership with wife Debbie in New Zealand (that becomes official on Saturday) "but the new partnership has now denied Rogerson the chance to join forces with Elliott in Australia because ARB rules state that partners must be the same on both sides of the Tasman". In what "is considered a landmark case, Rogerson has since instructed his lawyers to write to the ARB & ask them to change the wording of their rules". He commented: "Legally we feel they can't make that decision. It's a restraint of trade."
