Volitant Moves To Oxford Park Stud

Wednesday, 29th July 2009

Dual Gr3-winning 7YO stallion Volitant (Flying Spur-Sibon, by Bletchingly) will stand in Victoria this season at Michael & Rebecca Howard's Bunyip-based Oxford Park Stud in Gippsland at a $4,400 fee. Volitant retired from the track in 2007 to stand in NSW, but Equine Influenza restricted his 1st season to 43 mares at Orange-based Eagle Park Stud & an ownership dispute meant he didn't stand commercially in 2008. Volitant clocked 1min 21.37sec in winning the 2005 Gr3 Melbourne Racing Club Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, which remains the 2nd-fastest 1400m run there (behind only Exceed And Excel's 1min 21.2sec in the 2003 Gr1 Dubai Racing Club Cup).
