1st Group Winner For Freshman Firebreak

UK freshman sire Firebreak (Charnwood Forest-Breakaway, by Song) recorded his 1st group-winner when UK-bred colt Hearts Of Fire (Firebreak-Alexander Ballet, by Mind Games) scored a 2-lengths victory in Germany's €50,000 (A$85,000) Gr2 Zukunfts-Renne (1400m) for 2YOs at Baden-Baden. Hearts Of Fire (ridden by Olivier Peslier for trainer Pat Eddery) defeated Irish-bred colt Noble Alpha (Shamardal-Nouvelle Noblesse, by Singspiel) & fellow UK-bred colt Eternal Power (Tiger Hill-Eternal Beauty, by Zafonic). Hearts Of Fire was a 6,000 guineas (A$12,300) weanling at the 2007 UK Tattersalls December Sale & later a £13,000 (A$25,500) yearling at the 2008 Doncaster August Sale. At his previous start, he won France's Listed Prix Francois Boutin (1400m) by 5-lengths at Deauville on August 16 after finishing runner-up in July's UK Listed Rose Bowl Stakes (6 furlongs) at Newbury. Overall he now has 3 wins & 2 runners-up from 7 starts for €91,234 (A$155,000) earnings.
