Melito Wins Furious Stakes

Flagship Arrowfield Stud stallion & former champion Australian sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) added a group success when favoured daughter Melito (Redoute's Choice-Cloister, by Marauding) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the $150,000 Gr2 Furious Stakes (1400m) for 3YO fillies at Randwick. Melito (ridden by Corey Brown for trainer Gerald Ryan) defeated Hurtle Myrtle (Dane Shadow-Ravenswood, by Woodman) & Lovemelikearock (Fastnet Rock-Love All, by Mt Livermore). Melito (a $600,000 yearling at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) now has 2 wins (also including March's Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes over 1100m at Rosehill) & 3 runners-up (in last start's Gr3 Silver Shadow Stakes over 1200m at Randwick on August 22, plus March's Gr2 Perfect Vision Ilasik Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill & February's Listed Widden Stakes over 1100m at Randwick) from 6 starts for $378,000 earnings.
