Cumani Hoping Oliver Can Ride Melb Raiders

Friday, 18th September 2009

UK-based trainer Luca Cumani "is hopeful he can once again secure the services of Damien Oliver when Cima De Triomphe & Basaltico take up their engagements in Australia next month," reported racingpost.com. The pair "are under quarantine & being readied to depart for Australia" with Cima De Triomphe aimed at the Gr1 Caulfield Cup on October 17 & Basaltico due to appear in the Gr3 Geelong Cup 4 days later. Oliver has done well for Cumani in the past, riding Bauer to victory in last year's Geelong Cup (Bauer subsequently finished 2nd behind Viewed in the 2008 Melbourne Cup) & being on board Purple Moon when 2nd (behind Efficient) in the 2007 Melbourne Cup.
