Van Nistelrooy Adds UK Gr3

In the UK, former NZ Trelawney Stud shuttler Van Nistelrooy (Storm Cat-Halory, by Halo) added a group success when US-bred 4YO entire Strike The Deal (Van Nistelrooy-Countess Gold, by Mt Livermore) notched his 2nd successive stakes-win in just over a week with victory by a neck in the £65,000 (A$125,000) Gr3 Dubai Duty Free World Trophy (5 furlongs) at Newbury. Strike The Deal (ridden by Kieren Fallon for trainer Jeremy Noseda) defeated Irish-bred 3YO colt Total Gallery (Namid-Diary, by Green Desert) & South African-bred 5YO gelding JJ The Jet Plane (Jet Master-Majestic Guest, by Northern Guest). Strike The Deal was initially a US$40,000 yearling at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale, then a 140,000 guineas (A$287,000) 2YO at the 2007 UK Tattersalls April Sale & finally a 480,000 guineas (A$984,000) 2YO at the 2007 Tattersalls December Horses-In-Training Sale. At his previous start he also won the Listed Scarbrough Stakes (5 furlongs) at Doncaster on September 9 & overall now has 5 wins (also including 2007's Gr2 Richmond Stakes over 6 furlongs at Goodwood) & 4 placings (including 2008's Listed Hopeful Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newmarket, plus 2007's Gr1 Middle Park Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newmarket, Gr2 Mill Reef Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newbury & French Gr2 Prix Robert Papin over 1100m at Maisons-Laffitte) from 23 starts for £259,476 (A$499,000) earnings.
