Monday, 28th September 2009

Dual-Derby winning Coolmore sire & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a UK juvenile group success when Irish-bred colt Joshua Tree (Montjeu-Madeira Mist, by Grand Lodge) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the £125,000 (A$241,000) Gr2 Royal Lodge Stakes (8 furlongs) for 2YO colts & geldings at Ascot. Joshua Tree (ridden by Colm O'Donoghue for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated fellow colts Waseet (Selkirk-Najayeb, by Silver Hawk) & Irish-bred Vale Of York (Invincible Spirit-Red Vale, by Halling). Joshua Tree was a 360,000 guineas (A$738,000) yearling at the 2008 UK Tattersalls October Sale. Overall he now has 2 wins & a runner-up from 3 starts for £102,891 (A$198,000) earnings.
