Louisiana Yearlings Final Average Down 33.3%

Thursday, 1st October 2009

Overall in Louisiana, 235 yearlings sold (from 386 offered) for a cumulative US$1,952,200 which was down 6% from last year's 171 sold (from 258 offered) for US$2,076,300. The final average of US$8,094 was down 33.3% (last year US$12,142) & the final median of US$5,000 was down 16.7% (last year US$6,000). The buy-backs jumped to 39.1% (from 33.7% last year) & Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association chief executive Tom Early told thoroughbredtimes.com: "Overall, I can't be too disappointed. We sold 237 horses & I had very few complaints from consignors. We knew it would be hard to match last year's numbers" (the best ever in 20 years history of the auction).
