Scenic Blast Light Work On Nakayama Track

Thursday, 1st October 2009

In Japan, newly-crowned Australian Horse-Of-The-Year & current Global Sprint Challenge leader Scenic Blast (Scenic-Daughter's Charm, by Delgado) had his 1st exercise at Nakayama Race Course (since moving on Tuesday from the Shiroi quarantine facilities to the international stables at the track) by appearing between 6.45am-6.58am to "jog 1.5 laps & cantering-galloping a half-lap of the turf course" ridden by Australian trainer Dan Morton, reported japanracing.jp. Scenic Blast is preparing for Sunday's Gr1 Sprinters Stakes (1200mm & 6th leg of the 2009 Global Sprint Challenge) & Morton commented: "The turf (of the Nakayama course) felt very good. The rain softened the surface, which made it easier for him & he ran very good. He handled the right-handed turns very well, so I'm sure he'll give us his best on race day. Although the atmosphere for him has changed since moving from the quarantine center, he's very relaxed, he eats & drinks well - he's fresh. I'm taking him out on the turf again tomorrow morning (Thursday) & I'll decide then whether I'll breeze him or not. There aren't any plans for the jockey riding him before the race at this point."
