US Multiple Gr1-Winner Better Talk Now Retired

In the US, multiple Gr1-winning 10-year-old gelding Better Talk Now (trained for 8 seasons by US-based Englishman Graham Motion & scheduled to make the 52nd start of his extraordinary career in Saturday's Gr1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational at Belmont Park in New York) "has been retired from racing due to an injury sustained in the suspensory ligament of his left hind leg," reported bloodhorse.com. Kentucky-bred & Brushwood Stables-owned Better Talk Now (Talkin Man-Bendita, by Baldski) won or placed in a Gr1 race every year from 2004 to 2009; overall he recorded 14 wins & 13 placings from 51 starts (41 stakes, including 24 Gr1 races) for US$4,356,664 earnings. His victories included the 2004 Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf (12 furlongs), 2004 Gr1 Sword Dancer Invitational Handicap (12 furlongs), 2005 Gr1 United Nations Handicap (11 furlongs), 2005 Gr1 Man o War Stakes (11 furlongs) & 2007 Gr1 Manhattan Handicap (10 furlongs), plus the Gr2 Dixie Stakes (9 furlongs), Gr2 Knickerbocker Handicap (9 furlongs), Canadian Gr2 Sky Classic Handicap (11 furlongs), Gr3 Fort Marcy Handicap (8 furlongs) & Listed Eight Thirty Stakes (9 furlongs).
