Alandi Wins French Gr1 Cadran

Former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a Gr1 triumph when The Aga Khan's Irish-bred 4YO entire Alandi (Galileo-Aliya, by Darshaan) notched his 2nd Gr1 win in 3 weeks with a short-head victory in the €250,000 (A$425,000) Gr1 Prix du Cadran (4000m) for 4YOs & up at Longchamp. Alandi (ridden by Mick Kinane for trainer John Oxx) defeated 7YO gelding Kasbah Bliss (Kahyasi-Marital Bliss, by Double Bed) & Irish-bred 8YO entire & former Melbourne Cup runner Yeats (Sadler's Wells-Lyndonville, by Top Ville) in his final career start. At his previous 2 runs, Alandi won September's Irish Gr1 Field St Leger (14 furlongs) at The Curragh & August's Listed Ballycullen Stakes (14 furlongs) at Fairyhouse; & previously this season he also won April's Listed Vintage Crop Stakes (13 furlongs) at Navan & then finished runner-up in both May's Listed Saval Beg Stakes (14 furlongs) at Leopardstown & June's Listed Curragh Cup (14 furlongs) at The Curragh. Overall he now has 5 wins & 2 runners-up from 8 starts for €393,484 (A$669,000) earnings.
