Danehill Dancer Adds Irish Black-Type

Tuesday, 6th October 2009

Also in Ireland, Coolmore shuttler Danehill Dancer (Danehill-Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) added a black-type success when last season's European Champion juvenile & now 3YO colt Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer-Starlight Dreams, by Black Tie Affair) blitzed his older rivals by 5-lengths in the €62,000 (A$105,000) Listed Diamond Stakes (10.5 furlongs on all-weather) at Dundalk. Mastercraftsman (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated 4YO gelding Fiery Lad (Mull Of Kintyre-Forget Paris, by Broken Hearted) & US-bred 3YO colt Augustusthestrong (A.P.Indy-Fire The Groom, by Blushing Groom). Mastercraftsman took his record to 7 wins (also including June's UK Gr1 St James's Palace Stakes over 8 furlongs at Royal Ascot & May's Gr1 Irish 2000 Guineas over 8 furlongs at The Curragh, plus 2008's Irish Gr1 National Stakes over 7 furlongs at The Curragh, Gr1 Phoenix Stakes over 6 furlongs at The Curragh & Gr2 Railway Stakes over 6 furlongs at the Curragh) & 2 placings (in his last 2 starts in September's Irish Gr1 Champion Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown & August's UK Gr1 Juddmonte International over 10.5 furlongs at York) from 11 starts for €1,065,866 (A$1.812m) earnings.
