Giant's Causeway Adds US Black-Type

Tuesday, 6th October 2009

Former Coolmore shuttler Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat-Mariah's Storm, by Rahy) added a US juvenile black-type success when his colt Eskendereya (Giant's Causeway-Aldebaran Light, by Seattle Slew) blitzed his rivals by 7.25-lengths in the US$154,000 Listed Pilgrim Stakes (8 furlongs) for 2YOs at Belmont Park. Eskendereya (ridden by Javier Castellano for trainer Todd Pletcher) defeated fellow colts Western Flyer (More Than Ready-West Indian, by Indian Charlie) & Chairman Now (Tiznow-Lady From Shanghai, by Storm Cat). Eskendereya (a US$250,000 yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale) now has a win & a runner-up from 2 starts for US$104,700 earnings.
