Tuesday, 6th October 2009

NZ Windsor Park's Derby-winning Coolmore shuttler & 6-time Gr1 victor High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells-Kasora, by Darshaan) added a Gr1 triumph when his colt Monaco Consul (High Chaparral-Argante, by Star Way) saved ground along the rails on the heavy track to score a 1.5-lengths victory in the $300,000 Gr1 Inglis Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) for 3YOs at Randwick. Monaco Consul (ridden by Jay Ford for trainer Mike Moroney) defeated front-running fellow colt Gathering (Tale Of The Cat-Celebria, by Peintre Celebre) & another colt Viking Legend (Elvstroem-Innocent Baby, by Jugah). Monaco Consul (a NZ$100,000 yearling at the 2008 NZ Bloodstock Select Sale at Karaka) now has 2 wins & a runner-up from 5 starts for $191,355 earnings.
