Special Duty Wins UK Gr1 Cheveley Park Stakes

Tuesday, 6th October 2009

Also in the UK, deceased Gr1-winning former Coolmore shuttler Hennessy (Storm Cat-Island Kitty, by Hawaii) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms home-bred daughter Special Duty (Hennessy-Quest To Peak, by Distant View) scored a 2.75-lengths victory in the £170,000 (A$327,000) Gr1 Cheveley Park Stakes (6 furlongs) for 2YO fillies at Newmarket. Special Duty (ridden by Stephane Pasquier for trainer Criquette Head-Maarek) defeated Misheer (Oasis Dream-All For Laura, by Cadeaux Genereux) & US-bred Lady Of The Desert (Rahy-Queen's Logic, by Grand Lodge). Special Duty took her record to 2 wins (also including July's French Gr2 Prix Robert Papin over 1100m at Maisons-Laffitte) & 2 runners-up (in August's French Gr1 Darley Prix Morny over 1200m at Deauville & July's Listed Prix Yacowlef over 1000m at Deauville) from 4 starts for £256,811 (A$494,000) earnings.
