IFHA 1: Standard World Rules "Absolute Priority"

Wednesday, 7th October 2009

In Europe, chairman Louis Romanet opened the 43rd International Federation Of Horseracing Authorities conference in Paris with the declaration: "Harmonisation of rules is an absolute priority. Interferences is the number one issue." After referring to the international controversy which followed last month's high-profile disqualification of Dar Re Mi in France's G1 Prix Vermeille, Romanet highlighted 3 other "cases of interference showing clearly how far away we are on both sides of the Channel. France Galop's Chairman has already announced that there will be a complete review of the situation in our country, but if Great Britain & Ireland do not make a step forward we will never reach harmonisation. IFHA is ready to help, but it can only be a facilitator as we cannot impose rules & regulations to any racing authority."
