UK Tatts Yearlings Day-1: $1.045m Galileo Colt
Coolmore principal John Magnier out-bid Sir Robert Ogden (standing alongside John Warren) & paid top price of 550,000 guineas (A$1.045 million) for a colt by former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (out of Darshaan mare Tadkiyra) during the opening session overnight at Europe's premier yearling auction, the UK Tattersalls October Sale Book 1. The colt was consigned from Denis Brosnan's Limerick-based Croom House Stud in Ireland & his dam Tadkiyra's progeny also include Gr1 Phoenix Stakes winner Damson & Group-winning filly Geminiani. Coolmore agent Demi O'Byrne told racingpost.com: "He was a remarkable horse, he was just exceptional looking & on top of that he's a Galileo brother to a Gr1 winner. He is for the 3 usual (Coolmore) owners."
