UK Tatts Yearlings Day-2: $608k George Washington Filly

Thursday, 8th October 2009

Bloodstock agent Ross Doyle out-bid Charlie Gordon-Watson & paid 320,000 guineas (A$608,000) for the only yearling in the world by ill-fated Gr1-winning former Coolmore stallion George Washington: a filly (out of Rainbow Quest mare Flawlessly) consigned from Glidawn Stud. The filly (a half-sister to French Gr3 winner Ombre Legere & Gr1-placed Flawly) was the highest priced foal sold in Ireland last year when Gildawn paid the top price of €280,000 (A$476,000). Doyle indicated the filly was purchased on behalf of Julie Wood (one of the principal owners in Richard Hannon's stable) & would go into training at their East Everleigh Stables in Wiltshire.
