UK Tatts Yearlings Day-3: $1.045m Galileo Colt

Friday, 9th October 2009

British businessman Sir Robert Ogden out-bid Paul Cole & Eamonn Reilly to pay 550,000 guineas (A$1.045m) for a colt by former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (out of winning Zafonic mare Lila) consigned by from Bob Lanigan's Tullamaine Castle Stud in Ireland. The colt is a grandson of Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks winner Bint Pasha & agent John Warren (who has been advising Ogden) told racingpost.com: "There are only a handful of these types of horses this week & he fell into that category of above-average individuals. We are looking to build up a portfolio of around 8 lovely horses for Sir Robert & also got 2 at Deauville in August. We bought some earlier sorts of horses yesterday, but this is more of a 3YO-type; he was a big horse which could come from his dam's sire Zafonic. When you see these Galileos in the ring they are just a different breed."
