Monday, 12th October 2009

Ill-fated Lindsay Park stallion & 1994 Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner Jeune (Kalaglow-Youthful, by Green Dancer) added a group success when 5YO gelding Alcopop (Jeune-Iota Of Luck, by Blevic) made it 4 successive wins since returning from a 28-weeks spell with a 3.25-lengths victory in the $200,000 Gr2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield. Alcopop (ridden by Dominic Tourneur for trainer Jake Stephens) defeated favoured 4YO entire Shocking (Street Cry-Maria Di Castiglia, by Danehill) & fellow 5YO gelding Hissing Sid (Golden Snake-Domitrix, by At Talaq). Alcopop took his record to 7 wins (also including his 2 last starts in September's Listed JRA Cup over 2040m at Moonee Valley & Listed Balaklava Cup over 1600m) & a runner-up from 10 starts for $267,255 earnings.
