Avenue Wins Thoroughbred Club Stakes

Monday, 12th October 2009

Former Widden Stud shuttler Anabaa (Danzig-Balbonella, by Gay Mecene) added a group success when favoured daughter Avenue (Anabaa-Virage, by Kenmare) made it 2 successive stakes-wins with a 1.25-lengths victory in the $125,000 Gr3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) for 3YO fillies at Caulfield. Avenue (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Peter Moody) defeated Headway (Charge Forward-Chatelaine, by Flying Spur) & Kanzan (Commands-Cherry Lodge, by Grand Lodge). Avenue (a full-sister to $3.4 million Inglis broodmare Virage De Fortune) now has 3 wins (also including last start's Gr3 TBV/Eliza Park Champagne Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley on September 26) & a runner-up from 4 starts for $246,113 earnings.
