Gitano Hernando Wins US Gr1 Goodwood Stakes

UK-bred 3YO colt Gitano Hernando (Hernando-Gino's Spirits, by Perugino) scored by a neck against older rivals in the US$350,000 Gr1 Goodwood Stakes (9 furlongs on all-weather) at Santa Anita. Making his North American debut, Gitano Hernando (ridden by Kieren Fallon for trainer Marco Botti) defeated favoured 4YO entire Colonel John (Tiznow-Sweet Damsel, by Turkoman) & fellow 4YO entire Richard's Kid (Lemon Drop Kid-Tough Broad, by Broad Brush). Gitano Hernando was a €40,000 (A$68,000) yearling at France's 2007 Deauville August Sale & overall now has 4 wins & 2 runners-up (including May's UK Gr3 Dee Stakes over 10.5 furlongs at Chester) from 7 starts for US$219,893 earnings.
