Monday, 12th October 2009

In Italy overnight, UK-bred juvenile colt Hearts Of Fire (Firebreak-Alexander Ballet, by Mind Games) scored by a neck in the €243,000 (A$410,000) Gr1 Gran Criterium (1600m) for 2YOs at San Siro in Milan. Hearts Of Fire (ridden by Olivier Peslier for trainer Pat Eddery) defeated Godolphin's Irish-bred colt Vale Of York (Invincible Spirit-Red Vale, by Halling) & US-bred colt Mata Keranjang (More Than Ready-Love Sick, by Salt Lake). Previously this season Hearts Of Fire also won both last month's German Gr2 Zukunfts-Rennen (1400m) at Baden-Baden & August's French Listed Prix Francois Boutin (1400m) at Deauville, as well as finishing runner-up in July's UK Listed Rose Bowl Stakes (6 furlongs) at Newbury.
