Monday, 12th October 2009

Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a Gr1 triumph when last season's champion 3YO male & now 4YO gelding Whobegotyou (Street Cry-Temple Of Peace, by Carnegie) scored a 0.75-length victory in the $400,000 weight-for-age Gr1 Yalumba Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield. Favourite Whobegotyou (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Mark Kavanagh) defeated fellow 4YO gelding Heart Of Dreams (Show A Heart-Academy Of Dreams, by Royal Academy) & 7YO gelding Vision And Power (Carnegie-Escada, by Centaine). Whobegotyou (offered by Widden Stud but passed-in after failing to make his $25,000 reserve at the 2007 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney & later sold privately from the paddock) now has 7 wins (also including September's Gr2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley, plus 2008's Gr1 Caulfield Guineas over 1600m, Gr2 AAMI Vase over 2040m at Moonee Valley & Gr2 Bill Stutt Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley) & 8 placings (including last start's Gr1 Underwood Stakes over 1800m at Caulfield on September 19, plus both August's Gr2 Memsie Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield & Gr2 Liston Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield, as well as April's Gr1 Doncaster Handicap over 1600m at Randwick & both March's Gr2 Phar Lap Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill & Listed Melbourne Food & Wine Plate over 1400m at Flemington, in addition to 2008's Gr1 Victoria Derby over 2500m at Flemington & Gr3 McNeil Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield) from 18 starts for $2,104,450 earnings.
