Aqlaam Retired To UK Nunnery Stud
Last month's French Gr1 Prix De Moulin (1600m at Longchamp) winning 4YO entire Aqlaam (Oasis Dream-Bourbonella, by Rainbow Quest) has been retired to his owner Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Nunnery Stud in Norfolk in England following an injury to his knee. Aqlaam (whose dam is a half-sister to top stayer Persian Punch) was a 260,000 guineas (A$494,000) weanling at the UK Tattersalls Foal Sale. Previously this year, Aqlaam also won July's UK Gr2 Summer Mile (8 furlongs) at Ascot as well as placing in both August's French Gr1 Jacques Le Marois (1600m) at Deauville & June's UK Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes (8 furlongs) at Royal Ascot. And last year Aqlaam won the UK Gr3 Jersey Stakes (7 furlongs) at Royal Ascot. He retires with 4 wins from 9 starts overall for earnings over £500,000 (A$908,000).
