Stravinsky Returns To NZ & Begins Immediate Duty
In New Zealand, Coolmore-owned shuttler Stravinsky (Nureyev-Fire The Groom, by Blushing Groom) has returned to Cambridge Stud for the 1st time since 2006 (in 2007 he stood at Coolmore in the NSW Hunter Valley when Equine Influenza stopped him continuing from Australia to NZ & quarantine complications made his return to NZ impossible again last year) & "within 3 hours of arriving at Cambridge Stud, he had an appointment in the serving barn" reported NZ Thoroughbred Marketing. Cambridge principal Sir Patrick Hogan confirmed: "He will cover a mare at 11.30am this morning & has another booked for 7pm this evening! He looks absolutely magnificent. I couldn't be happier with his condition, given that he left Japan on July 20." Stravinsky (who currently boasts 59 individual stakes-winners) finished serving at his Northern Hemisphere base in Japan on July 10 & after 10 days in isolation, left for America where he had 2 months quarantine at Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Kentucky; from there he had a further 3 weeks quarantine in Melbourne, before being transported to NZ.
