UK Tatts Book 2 Day-1: $304k Cape Cross Colt
Newmarket-based agent Richard O'Gorman out-bid trainer Clive Cox & paid top price of 160,000 guineas (A$304,000) for a colt by Cape Cross (out of Sadler's Wells mare True Crystal) during the opening session overnight at the UK Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2. The colt (whose dam True Crystal is a daughter of Gr3 Lancashire Oaks winner State Crystal) was consigned from Ireland's Round Hill Stud & O'Gorman told racingpost.com: "He was a very well presented colt & his sire is flying. He has been bought for Darley. The market has been amazingly strong & I can't believe that it has held up so well. I thought it would drop off a bit after last week, but this has been great for the industry & it seems very similar to last year, something few other businesses could achieve at the moment."
