US Sire Grand Jewel Dead Aged 19

US 19-year-old stallion Grand Jewel (who stood at several Texas farms during his career) died "after a breeding accident" reported bloodhorse.com. Grand Jewel (Java Gold-Flying Rumor, by Alydar) raced as a home-bred for William Farish & W.S.Kilroy; as a 3YO at Keeneland in 1993, he won both the Gr2 Fayette Stakes in track-record-equaling time & Gr2 Lexington Stakes & subsequently retired with 6 wins from 14 starts.
