UK Tatts Book 2 Day-3: $418k Medicean Colt

Thursday, 15th October 2009

Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Estates racing manager Angus Gold out-bid trainer Amanda Perrett & paid top price of 220,000 guineas (A$418,000) overnight for a colt by Medicean (out of Rainbow Quest mare Navajo Rainbow) during the closing session at the 3-day UK Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2. The colt (from Bill & Tara Dwan's The Castlebridge Consignment) is a half-brother to this year's stakes-placed Navajo Chief & provided a massive pin-hooking success for a syndicate of 145 staff from Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms, who purchased him at the 2008 Tattersalls December Foal Sale for just 16,000 guineas (A$30,400). Gold told racingpost.com: "We've had a bit of luck with the family & we've got some nice Medicean 2YOs coming through."
