Friday, 16th October 2009

And cumulatively for the combined 6 days of the Tattersalls Yearlings Books 1 & 2, a total of 1,080 lots sold for 74,300,500 guineas (A$141.171m) which was up 6.9% on last year. The cumulative average of 68,797 guineas (A$131,000) was down 9% from last year, but the cumulative clearance rate was 80% (compared to 73% last year). Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony summed up: "We were delighted with the trade at Book 1 last week & it has been equally pleasing to see it mirrored over the 3 days of Book 2. It seems extraordinary to be able to reflect on Books 1 & 2 in such positive terms, bearing in mind the continuing economic uncertainties, but the strength of both sales has been remarkable."
