Megatic Wins Northerly Stakes

Monday, 19th October 2009

Ill-fated former Western Australian Alwyn Park Stud shuttler Danetime (Danehill-Allegheny River, by Lear Fan) added a black-type success when 5YO gelding Megatic (Danetime-Mega Role, by Old Spice) scored by a long-neck in the $100,000 Listed Northerly Stakes (1400m) at Ascot in Perth to take this race for the 2nd successive year. Megatic (ridden by Patrick Carbery for trainer Albie Beckett) defeated fellow 5YO geldings Colour Correct (High Yield-Never Blue, by Military Plume) & favourite London (Octagonal-Harveynicks, by Lake Coniston). Megatic now has 8 wins (also including 2007's Gr1 Kingston Town Classic over 1800m at Ascot, Gr2 WA Guineas over 1600m at Ascot & Listed Belgravia Stakes over 1200m at Ascot) & 5 placings (including May's Listed Bolton Stakes over 1200m at Belmont Park, plus 2008's Gr3 Asian Beau Stakes over 1400m at Ascot & 2007's Listed Fairetha Stakes over 1400m at Ascot) from 18 starts for $789,650 earnings.
