Red Desire Wins Japan Gr1 Shuka Sho

In Japan yesterday, Red Desire (Manhattan Cafe-Great Sunrise, by Caerleon) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the ¥174.42 million (A$2.22m) Gr1 Shuka Sho (2000m) for 3YO fillies at Kyoto. Red Desire (ridden by Hirofumi Shii for trainer Mikio Matsunaga) defeated Broad Street (Agnes Tachyon-Phila Street, by Cozzene) & Buena Vista (Special Week-Biwa Heidi, by Caerleon). Previously this year Red Desire also finished runner-up in each of April's Listed Oka Sho-Japanese 1000 Guineas (1600m) at Hanshin, May's Listed Yushun Himba-Japanese Oaks (2400m) at Tokyo & September's Listed Kansai Telecasting Sho Rose Stakes (2000m) at Hanshin; overall she now has 3 wins & 3 runners-up from 6 starts for ¥232.434 million (A$2.959m) earnings.
