Tuesday, 20th October 2009

In the US, Vinery Stud's 6-time Gr1-winning Australian-bred stallion Testa Rossa (Perugino-Bo Dapper, by Sir Dapper) added a black-type success when French-bred 4YO gelding Blue Chagall (Testa Rossa-Eloisey, by Pitskelly) scored a 3.5-lengths victory in the US$66,000 Listed Lure Stakes (8 furlongs on turf) at Santa Anita Park in California. Blue Chagall (ridden by Garrett Gomez for trainer Julio Canani) defeated Australian-bred fellow 4YO gelding Gothic Samurai (Genuine-Gothic Darkness, by Comrade) & 5YO gelding Yacht Spotter (Slewdledo-Sarna, by Son Of Briartic). Blue Chagall took his record to 4 wins (also including 2007's French Gr3 Prix Des Chenes over 1600m at Longchamp) & 2 placings (including 2007's French Listed Criterium Du Fonds Europeen De L'Elevage over 1600m at Deauville) from 15 starts for US$201,580 earnings.
