Koko Mambo Wins Peru Gr1 Ortix De Zevallos

Wednesday, 21st October 2009

In South America, front-running colt Koko Mambo (Apprentice-Not For Sale, by Mashhor Dancer) blitzed his rivals by 8-lengths in Peru's Gr1 Clasico Ricardo Ortiz De Zevallos (2000m on dirt & 2nd leg of Peru's Quadruple Crown series for 3YO colts) at Hipodromo de Monterrico in Lima. Koko Mambo (ridden by Carlos Javier Herrera for trainer Juan Suarez) defeated fellow colt Invincible Dad (Play The Gold-Valerita, by Combsway) & northern-hemisphere juvenile colt Georgui Lui (Whywhywhy-Contanese Bed, by Barathea). Koko Mambo (whose sire Apprentice was Peru's 2002 champion stallion & whose dam Not for Sale is a half-sister to Peruvian Gr1-winner Westbury) now has 3 wins & a runner-up from 9 starts.
