UK Gr1 Star Ghanaati Retired To Stud
In the UK, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's dual Gr1-winning US-bred 3YO filly Ghanaati (Giant's Causeway-Sarayir, by Mr Prospector) "has been retired to the paddocks to the ultimate accolade from her jockey Richard Hills, who called her the best miler he had ridden" reported racingpost.com. This season Ghaanti returned from a 6-months spell to win May's Gr1 English 1000 Guineas (8 furlongs) at Newmarket & followed-up with victory (in new track record time) in June's Gr1 Coronation Stakes (8 furlongs) at Royal Ascot. She subsequently finished 3rd against older rivals in July's UK Gr1 Sussex Stakes (8 furlongs) at Goodwood & runner-up a fortnight ago in the UK Gr1 Sun Chariot Stakes (8 furlongs) at Newmarket. Ghanaati (whose dam is a half-sister to Nashwan, Nayef & Unfuwain) retires with a career record of 3 wins & 3 placings from 6 starts for £461,712 (A$837,000) earnings & is now based at Sheikh Hamdan's Beech House Stud in Newmarket.
