298 Nominations For HK International Races

Meanwhile the HK Jockey Club has received 298 nominations (including 79 individual Gr1-winners) from 17 racing jurisdictions for its annual international races at Sha Tin on December 13. They include:

  • HK$12m (US$1.55m) Gr1 HK Sprint (1200m): Australian Horse-Of-The-Year Scenic Blast, Australian 8-time Gr1-winner Apache Cat, French Gr1 Prix de l'Abbaye winner Total Gallery, UK Gr1 July Cup winner Fleeting Spirit, dual UK Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes winner Borderlescott, US sprinter Cannonball, Japan's best sprinter Laurel Guerreiro, HK-based Sacred Kingdom & Inspiration (winners of the 2007 & 2008 renewals of this race) & up-and-coming Happy Zero.  
  • HK$14m (US$1.8m) Gr1 HK Vase (2400m): British stars Conduit (won 3 Gr1s including the US Breeders' Cup Turf & UK King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at this distance) & dual Gr1-winner Youmzain (also runner-up in the last 3 renewals of France's Gr1 Arc De Triomphe), Europe's best staying female Dar Re Mi, UK Gr1 Epsom Oaks winner Look Here & Gr1-winner Spanish Moon, Godolphin's Eastern Anthem (winner of this year's Gr1 Dubai Sheema Classic) & Mastery (winner of this year's UK Gr1 St Leger), US triple Gr1-winner Presious Passion, plus HK's Horse-Of-The-Year Viva Pataca, Thumbs Up & rising star Young Elite.   
  • HK$16m (US$2m) Gr1 HK Mile (1600m): Europe's 6-time Gr1-winner Goldikova, Japan's multiple Gr1-winner Vodka, Australian Gr1-winner Black Piranha, Godolphin's Delegator, plus HK star Good Ba Ba (attempting to win for the 3rd time) & fellow HK Gr1 stars Sight Winner & Egyptian Ra.
  • HK$20m (US$2.5m) Gr1 HK Cup (2000m): Last year's winner Eagle Mountain, Presvis (who won the Gr1 Audemars Piguet QEII Cup at this track & distance in April), US Gr1 Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, fellow US Gr1 star Gio Ponti, multiple European Gr1-winner Vision D'Etat (victor in both the French Derby & UK Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot), Japan's highest-ranked thoroughbred Dream Journey & local HK star Collection (winner of last season's Hong Kong Derby).
