Flying Spur Adds HK Gr3

Monday, 26th October 2009

In Hong Kong yesterday, Arrowfield Stud stallion & former Australian champion sire Flying Spur (Danehill-Rolls, by Mr Prospector) added a group success when Australian-bred 6YO gelding Inspiration (Flying Spur-La Bamba, by Last Tycoon) scored a 0.75-length victory in the HK$2.3 million (A$340,000) Gr3 Premier Bowl (1200m) at Sha Tin. Inspiration (ridden by Derek Leung for expatriate Australian trainer John Moore) defeated Australian-bred stable-mate 5YO gelding One World (Danehill Dancer-River Serenade, by Hurricane Sky) & 4YO gelding Tuscan Spirit (Chianti-Fortelo, by Armidale). Inspiration (a $420,000 yearling at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 9 wins (also including 2008's Gr1 Hong Kong International Sprint over 1200m at Sha Tin & 2006's Nigato Plate over 1000m at Sha Tin) & 8 placings (including 2006's Juvenile Sprint Trophy at Sha Tin) from 29 starts for almost HK$16 million (A$2.35m) earnings.
