Langfuhr Adds Irish Black-Type

Monday, 26th October 2009

In Ireland, former Vinery Stud shuttler Langfuhr (Danzig-Sweet Briar Too, by Briartic) added a black-type success when US-bred 4YO gelding Arganil (Langfuhr-Sherona, by Mr Greeley) scored a 1-length victory in the €42,500 (A$68,000) Listed Mercury Stakes (5 furlongs on all-weather) at Dundalk. Arganil (ridden by Keegan Latham for trainer Kevin Ryan) defeated 3YO gelding Rain Delayed (Oasis Dream-Forever Phoenix, by Shareef Dancer) & UK-bred 4YO mare Perfect Polly (Efisio-Nashira, by Prince Sabo). Arganil (a US$50,000 yearling at the 2006 Keeneland September Sale) took his record to 7 wins (also including March's UK Listed Hever Sprint Stakes over 5 furlongs at Lingfield Park) & a runner-up from 15 starts for €97,392 (A$156,000) earnings.
