Marmaa Wins Inglis Juvenile

Monday, 26th October 2009

Ill-fated dual Gr1-winning former Widden Stud stallion General Nediym (Nediym-Military Belle, by Without Fear) added a juvenile feature success when Shadwell Australia's favoured colt Marmaa (General Nediym-Lady Jaguar, by Last Tycoon) prevailed on debut in a 3-way photo-finish to the $250,000 Inglis Juvenile (1000m) for 2YOs at Moonee Valley (the 1st race in the $2.6million Inglis Race Series for 2009 yearling sale graduates). Marmaa (ridden by Brad Rawiller for trainer David Hayes) scored by a long-neck from debutante filly Devils Melody (Falvelon-Never Late, by Switch in Time) with a further long-head to fellow debutante filly Jill's Angel (Invincible Spirit-Ithica, by Canny Lad). Marmaa (a $110,000 yearling bred & offered by Torryburn Stud at the 2009 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) earned $146,000 for his initial victory.
